MetLife: Long-Term Care Insurance

To Request a MetLife Long Term Care Quote Click Here»

Metlife has been around since 1868 and is one of the "founding fathers" of long-term care insurance, having offered coverage since the 1980s.  Few companies can match MetLife's reputation as an American icon and a company that millions of Americans have put their trust in.

Value Long-Term Care Plan

The "Value" plan is a popular MetLife Long-Term Care Insurance program that offers daily reimbursement of long-term care costs from $50 - $400/day.  Benefit periods of 2-7 years are available, with coverage for both home care and assisted living/nursing.

If you request quotes from us, we typically will start with the Value plan as a base.  MetLife does offer several other plans as well, depending on your needs.  For example, if you prefer monthly reimbursement, MetLife Ideal may be a good fit.  Be sure to ask your LTC advisor (or request a quote below!) about the various MetLife offerings.

MetLife Ideal :: Premier :: Facility Plans

  1. The most popular MetLife Long Term Care Insurance product is the MetLife Ideal policy which is a monthly benefit reimbursement plan.  The monthly benefit plan will give you more flexibility especially for home care over a daily benefit plan. Say for example, you have $100/day plan and that buys 10 hours of home care and one day you need $150/day for 15 hrs.  With the daily plan you'd be capped out at $100 where as the monthly plan you'd be given $3000/month so you could manage the payment better over the course of the month and have no out of pocket expense i you were careful.  You can choose from the same benefit period as the Value (2,3,4,7,Unlimited).
  2. The MetLife Premier Long Term Care Insurance Plan pays you your full daily benefit regardless of the actual expenses.  Say for example you had a plan that paid ou $5000/month and you used $2000 for home care, MetLife Premier will give you the $3000 extra in cash and you can spend it however you'd like.  This plan is by far the most flexible on payment options and has been used by people in place of a traditional disability policy.  Compare carefully though before dropping a disability plan.
  3. The MetLife Facility plan is a Facility Only plan, which like its name pays benefits for just facility care.  No home care.  We do not recommend this plan as a standalone long-term care plan, however it may be a good supplement for policyholders who already have other Long-Term Care insurance policies.
