Smoke Mirrors and Government Run Helath Care
As if the politicians in Washington could not attempt to insult our intelligence enough they tried yet again today when the Senate Democrats released their version of the health care bill. With HUGE government deficits pilling up they know they needed a "low" number for the cost of the government run health care bill so they are playing the shell game. The projected cost came in at about $875 billion dollars which is below the $900 billion Obama said he wanted but the smoke and mirrors of it all is the numbers are based on funding it from taxes starting immediately and benefits stating in 2014.
Yes, they did. Benefits for 6 years and taxes for 10 years. Playing with the numbers like that and trying to fool American citizens should be a crime. Take out their fuzzy math and you have ANOTHER 1.5 trillion dollar expense that will provide less medical care for more money. More importantly, like in Germany who has a similar form of health care in place, they are able to pay their doctors about 1/2 the American doctors. The problem they have is that cap on pay drives the really smart people into other professions and the patients are left with decently skilled doctors. If myself or my family needs say heart surgery, I want that doctor to be treated like a rock star, I want them sleeping in the best house, and driving to work in a Porsche 911 while the heated seats gets their muscles ready for that delicate surgery. DVM Docs, no thanks.
Why is a long term care site talking about government run health care? Crammed into the bill is the most terrible government run long term care plan that is 50% more expensive for most people than private long term care insurance and provides less benefits. If you live in Nebraska, Arkansas, or Louisiana please call your Senators and tell them heck no to government run health care. In fact, if in all the States call your Senators. Thanks for reading and letting me vent today.
