Future Centenarians and their need for Long Term Care Insurance |
|
I was reading over some the latest census estimates from the United Stated Census Bureau on the amount of US citizens living to be 100 or "Centenarians". According to the latest census estimates, there are now more than 60,000 U.S. centenarians, up 63 percent since 1990, with a projected 1,000,000 by 2030 and more than 4,000,000 by 2050. Morbidity, existing in a state of illness, looms with longer life spans and that's why it is a smart financial decision to at least look into long term care insurance.
What that statistics reveal is as modern medicine continues to evolve, eating healthier diets, and exercise continues to become common practice we will have a huge number of old folks and many will need long term care assistance at some point in there lives. Just stop, and imagine retiring at 65 and then living another 40 years. Odds are during that 40 year period after retirement people will need long term care assistance at some point and paying for that care could be a challenge for most unless you plan now.
