Breast Cancer and Long Term Care Insurance |
|
As a general rule, we don't like to give specifics on underwriting of long-term care insurance policies. Each situation is different, and nothing is guaranteed. However, I do like to make comments on some conditions and how underwriting CAN work with long-term care insurance. Many people think that their pre-existing condition may make them un-insurable.
Breast Cancer and Long-Term Care Underwriting
When we have a potential applicant who has had breast cancer in the past, there are a few things we'll ask immediately to determine their potential eligibility:
- How long ago was the cancer?
- What stage was the breast cancer?
- Were there any positive nodes? How many?
Once we find out these characteristics of a past breast-cancer, we can begin to go further. I will elaborate on a few example scenarios and possible underwriting outcomes in a future column.
