We’ve all been to them, you know the nursing homes that when you open the door you wish you couldn’t smell. How great would it be to have a star rating system like there is for hotels for nursing homes? The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have developed exactly that, a star rating service. The new Zagat-like rating system gives nursing homes one to five stars for quality, staffing, and health inspections; plus an overall score. Putting a loved one in a nursing home is a traumatic event for everyone involved and a rating system that will allow you to stick your toe in the water so to speak, would be a great starting point.
